City of London Sinfonia presents Wind in West London, the final instalment of its CLS Minis series: a spring series of miniature lunchtime and evening concerts, curated and performed by City of London Sinfonia musicians.

CLS Minis showcases our outstanding professional musicians in chamber music composed for strings, brass and wind instruments. Each concert allows you to experience live music closer than you can in a traditional classical concert, and our musicians bring their own insights and introductions.

The Orchestra’s two performances at West London Synagogue feature members of our wind section in chamber music written especially for strings, including Suite Persane by André Caplet, Bird of Paradise by Moondog and Gounod’s Petite Symphonie, written for a wind nonet. Our wind programme has been curated by Principal Flute Karen Jones and Principal Horn Stephen Stirling.

Mindfulness plays an integral role in our evening concert: City of London Sinfonia violinist Ann Morfee leads a mindful meditation as part of the performance, using mindfulness techniques for the body and mind to help relieve stress and enhance the audience’s experience of the music. This one-hour concert is ideal for people who need to relax after a long, hard day at work and for people who want to experience something different.
