A programme of 17th century music linked with composers and patrons who for various reasons end up displaced from their origins. Greenwich émigré residents Ferrabosco and Lanier occupy pride of place in the programme, which also includes music by Catholic recusants and exiles such as Byrd, Philips and Dering. Dowland of course was well-known for his self-exile. Patronage by immigrant royalty such as Anne of Denmark, Henrietta Maria, and Willam and Mary forms another keystone in the programme (with the last bringing Purcell into the mix). As a collecting point for immigrants through the ages, (and an area of particular interest to royalty) Greenwich has a strong relevance to the programme.
