Our summer concert offers a multi-coloured mix of the sacred and secular. The first part revolves around three settings of the Ave verum by composers from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, alongside music of differing devotional moods from their contemporaries. Part two takes us (mostly) away from the religious sphere and presents songs and dances evoking the Bavarian hills, the New World and Elizabethan England. The varieties of time and place are well-matched by the range of characters and styles in this engaging programme.
