What do Holst, Bach and Mendelssohn have in common? Composition runs in the family: parent and child, brother and sister. Our programme explores the relationships between these works and the blood relatives who wrote them.

From JS Bach and CPE Bach we have the spiritual; Lobet den Herrn and Heilig ist Gott, which pits choirs of angels and mortals against each other.

Mother and daughter Elizabeth Machonchy and Nicola LeFanu provide the secular, contemplating hopes, dreams, and love.

Imogen Holst's Mass in A minor is woven throughout Gustav Holst's works on the soul, the planets, and his exquisite setting of Nunc dimittis.

Rufus Frowde conducts, and Vivamus are delighted to be joined by organist Martin Ford, Director of Music at The Guards' Chapel.
