Armistice Centenary Concert - Sheringham and Cromer Choral Society

As part of Sheringham Town's commemoration of the centenary of the Armistice at the end of the First World War and in association with Coast Arts, Sheringham and Cromer Choral Society are pleased to present a concert featuring two well loved works. Dona nobis pacem - a plea for peace - was written in 1936 at a time overshadowed by the looming Second World War. Gabriel Fauré's Requiem although written 130 years ago has retained its power to move people. The programme will also include Christan Soldiers, from the opening of Patrick Hawes's Great War Symphony, which will receive its world premiere performance in the Royal Albert Hall on 9 October 2018 and its US premiere in Carnegie Hall on 11 November 2018. This work provides an appropriate link back to 2014 when the Choral Society commissioned Patrick to write Eventide (in memoriam Edith Cavell) to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.
