  1. Aria, from Goldberg Variations BWV 988 - Johann Sebastian Bach, arranged for string trio by Dmitri Sitkovetsky

City of London Sinfonia performs alongside James Sparks, Professor of Mathematical Physics at the University of Oxford, in association with Selwyn College Music Society, University of Cambridge as part of the Orchestra’s Bach and the Cosmos series and University Tour.

Through music, visuals and numerical explanations, James Sparks and the Orchestra explore JS Bach’s most numerical piece, the Goldberg Variations; how Bach uses mathematical methodologies to expand musical subjects and exhaust all permutations of every theme in his 30 Variations.
