Petersfield Orchestra has been a big part of the musical life in Petersfield for over 90 years. Their appearance has always been a highlight of the Petersfield Musical Festival. They return for a varied programme, for the second year under conductor Mark Biggins.
Prokofiev’ s enthralling third piano concerto, with the outstanding Romanian pianist Cristian Sandrin, forms the centrepiece of this all-Russian programme, which concludes with Tchaikovsky’s ‘Pathétique’, his last word in symphonic form.
Conductor and soloist will be in conversation with Piers Burton-Page at a pre-concert talk, giving further insight into the music and the performers.
The 2019 Petersfield Musical Festival runs from 15 to 23 March, with an exciting programme of concerts, and a wide range of performers and music - including choral, orchestral, traditional Greek music, solo instrumental, and jazz.
