The concert opens with Laudes organi, composed for organ and choir by Zoltan Kodaly in 1966 for the National Convention of The American Guild of Organists

Prokofiev's Overture on Hebrew themes, was premiered at the Bohemian Club in New York, in 1920 with a small ensemble and Prokofiev as guest pianist, It is based on notebooks on Jewish folksongs shared with him by clarinettist Simeon Bellison during his visit to the city.

Saint-Saëns's Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso in A minor, composed in 1863,is a lyric work featuring a virtuosic violin solo of arpeggios, supported by the orchestra.

Dvorák composed and orchestrated his 8th symphony in 1889 while in Bohemia, and conducted its premier in Prague in 1890. A cheery and light hearted symphony, it draws its inspiration from the Bohemian folk music that Dvorák loved.
