The news is out! The Dover Quartet is stealing the musical headlines. Just named the new Quartet in Residence at Washington's Kennedy Centre, they join the Kalichstein/Laredo/ Robinson Trio for the 2018-2019 season of music at the start of a three-year term.
The Quartet’s residency is also intended to provide the ensemble with tools to expand their education footprint, developing a mobile capsule program, reaching school children while touring, and utilizing the Kennedy Centre’s vast educational network throughout the United `States.
These phenomenal young players, who return for their second visit to Claygate in March 2019, formed their quartet when they were just 19-year-old students at the Curtis Institute. There followed a stunning sweep of top awards beginning with First Prize at the Banff, Canada, International String Quartet Competition, and a leap to international stardom, with The New Yorker magazine naming them “the young American string quartet of the moment.”
Their diary is crammed with concerts across the USA, Canada and Europe .
