Epsom Chamber Choir’s ‘Bach to the Future’ concert on 23rd March showcases German motets in many shapes and sizes. Alongside Bach, from the 19th century there is not only Brahms but also the great Mendelssohn, and from the 20th century are Berg, Webern and Reger. Less familiar names are also given the limelight, including Austrian Heinrich von Herzogenberg and German composer Hugo Distler, who tragically fell foul of the Nazi regime.

Epsom Chamber Choir have an excellent track record of performing not only some of the most beautiful but also technically challenging of motets. With the mix including Bach’s 'Ich lasse dich nicht', Brahms’s 'Warum ist das Licht gegeben?', Mendelssohn’s 'Jauchzet den Herrn' and Berg’s 'Es ist ein Ros entsprungen', it promises to be a memorable way to spend a spring evening.
