After five highly successful Festivals from 2013 to 2017 which focused exclusively on the music of Brahms, Schubert and Mendelssohn, Mozart and Beethoven respectively, the sixth Whittington International Chamber Music Festival took a different turn and provided an 'immersion experience' in British music. Our seventh Festival, from 21 - 26 May 2019, 'Czech Mates - Dvorák and the Bohemians' will focus on the wonderful music of Dvorák, Smetana, Suk, Janacek and Martinu in six concerts in this delightful Shropshire village. The church has a perfect acoustic and a good view from all pews -uninterrupted by pillars. James Barralet (cellist) is our Artistic Director. This year he will be joined by ten other world-class musicians. Between them all, they represent five nationalities - UK, France, Germany, Canada and America.

Schools workshops for three schools will be taking place on Thursday 23rd May.

The musicians will also provide a workshop and performance at Oswestry Borders U3A on Tuesday 21st May at 10.30am.

Ten young Shropshire musicians will rehearse and then play onstage with the professionals in the concert on Friday 24th May in a 10-minute arrangement of a medley of Czech music, arranged by Artistic Director, James Barralet.
