Scarlatti was judged possibly superior to Handel on the harpsichord, although inferior on the organ – and Marchand disappeared in the morning, perhaps having heard Bach and knowing he would lose! Carole’s programme will include Bach’s Italian Concerto, suites by Marchand and Handel, and sonatas by Scarlatti.
