  1. Overture, from Egmont Op 84 - Ludwig van Beethoven
  2. Romance for Violin and Orchestra No 2 in F Op 50 - Ludwig van Beethoven
  3. 5 Bagatelles - Gerald Finzi, arranged for clarinet and strings by Christian Alexander
  4. Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No 2 in F Op 102 - Dmitry Shostakovich

The main work in our programme is the Piano Concerto No 2 by Shostakovich, a gloriously free, wistful creation - particularly in the famous second movement, which guarantees the whole work’s enduring popularity. We are delighted to welcome Japanese virtuoso pianist Maki Sekiya who has had a successful international career based in Russia and in Japan, after graduating from the Moscow Conservatoire. Maki is artist in residence at Oxford’s Green Templeton College.

The 5 Bagatelles by Gerald Finzi show off all the versatility of the instrument with clarinettist Catriona Scott who has given stunning performances of concertos by Mozart and Weber in previous Proms concerts.

Seats in the venue are unreserved except for tickets in the first 2 rows of the balcony which gives the best view of the performers. These can only be purchased from the Oxford Proms website.
