  1. The Dream of Gerontius Op 38 - Sir Edward Elgar

Epsom Choral Society is joining with Barnes Choir to perform The Dream of Gerontius, Elgar’s most famous and loved choral work.

Gerontius is acknowledged to be one of the greatest choral works ever written. It is a deeply moving work, a heartfelt expression of loss and hope in the face of death. From the poem by John Henry Newman, it follows the journey of a dying man who meets his Guardian Angel and goes before his God before being taken to Purgatory with the promise of everlasting glory. With stirring passages of great power and beauty and an achingly beautiful finale this great work is cherished by music lovers everywhere.
