  1. Il barbiere di Siviglia, 'The Barber of Seville' - Gioachino Rossini

The old miser Bartolo wants to marry his ward (the beautiful young Rosina) and he’s determined to do it before his staging of 'The Useless Precaution' is through. Little does he know that his embittered handyman, Figaro, has been paid off by the young Count Almaviva, who also wants Rosina’s hand in marriage. Together they are working with the chorus to sabotage Bartolo’s plan, and secure Almaviva his bride.

This July, Scherzo will stage The Barber of Seville. A young team of performers and creatives will present a production which explores the origins of Rossini's classic opera buffa by drawing on traditions of Bel Canto and Commedia dell'Arte, with costumes evocative of the late 18th century.

We are delighted to be performing in the Old Library at Charlton House.
