Following their residency with Welsh National Opera, the Young Artists at National Opera Studio return to London for a showing of their recent scenes production. Woven together by British director and writer Emma Jenkins, the performance will feature scenes from such celebrated operas as Hänsel und Gretel, Anna Bolena, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Xerxes, Le nozze di Figaro and Turandot.

This semi-staged performance will feature piano accompaniment from our four highly-skilled répétiteurs.

For over 40 years, the National Opera Studio has played an essential role at the heart of British opera. The NOS works in partnership with Arts Council England and the UK’s leading Opera Companies – Opera North, English National Opera, Glyndebourne, the Royal Opera House, Scottish Opera and Welsh National Opera – to provide intensive and bespoke professional training of the highest quality for singers and répétiteurs who have the potential to become the leading artists of their generation.

Emma Jenkins read English at Oxford University and began her career in opera as a staff director for English National Opera. She worked in that capacity on over 20 productions and directed the world premiere of The Country of the Blind by Mark Anthony Turnage. Emma directed Figaro’s Wedding at the inaugural Grange Park Festival in 1998 and has since directed for Pimlico Opera and the Iford Festival.
