Presented by the Royal Academy of Music
Korean cellist Ye Jin Choi and Indonesian pianist Kevin Suherman started collaborating together in 2017 at the start of their postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music, and soon formed the Orix Duo. Shortly after, the Duo competed and won the annual Wilfrid Parry Prize at the Academy, for their performance of a Brahms Sonata for piano and cello.
Most recently, the duo has been invited to perform later this June as part of the Lunchtime Recital Series held at the Royal Academy of Music, and will be appearing in the annual Summer Piano Festival in the beginning of July, also held at the Academy. Early next year, the Orix Duo will be joining the For crying out loud Concert Series at Wigmore Hall, a series for parents and their young children.
Earlier in 2018, the Orix Duo was awarded first prize in the Delius Prize Competition held at the Royal Academy of Music. Subsequently, they were invited by the Delius Society to perform a recital at Madingley Hall, University of Cambridge, where they were praised by the Society for their interpretation of the Delius Cello Sonata. The Orix Duo has worked with distinguished musicians such as Christoph Richter, Sung-Won Yang, Adrian Brendel and Joanna MacGregor.
