  1. The Rite of Spring, 'Le sacre du printemps' - Igor Stravinsky
  2. Symphonic Dances, from West Side Story - Leonard Bernstein

Dance music done differently! Orchestral clubbing with Resonance Orchestra at Motion Bristol, joined on stage by dancers and supported by Latin music group Trio Cheverongo.

Resonance are taking the stage in the Marble Factory to perform Bernstein's Latin-inspired dances from West Side Story and Stravinsky's raw and visceral Rite of Spring.

"And suddenly I've found
How wonderful a sound
Can be!"

West Side Story is all about love, loyalty, society, race and youth. It approaches issues of immigration and equality. Bernstein's music takes influences from all over the place - geographically and musically - to create this heady mix of musical styles in the form of dance.

We're very excited to be joined by Trio Cheverongo who will open the evening with some fantastic Latin music, the source for Bernstein's incredible score which has delighted audiences since its inception in the 1960s.

"The work of a madman … sheer cacophony,"

Stravinsky changed the face of ballet. Gone are the tutus and waltzes, this is savage, untamed dance music, so shocking at its time that riots broke out at the premiere. He takes old, Baltic folk tunes and reimagines them amidst the drama of pagan ritual and sacrifice, twisting them into music so extraordinary that it still amazes listeners today.

We have a Latin band...
We have an orchestra...
We also have dancers.
Delicia Sefiha, Xavier De Santos and Kerry Fitzsimons have choreographed modern dance to this sensational music which demands powerful, impassioned and incredibly physical performances.
