Singaporean pianist Serene Koh opens our 2019 festival with the first in our lunchtime emerging artist series. Serene has won top prizes at competitions such as the Singapore National Piano Competition and is currently a scholarship recipient of The Leverhulme Trust and a Yamaha Artist.

Showcasing works by three keyboard virtuosos of their day, Serene’s performance begins with two light and cheerful Scarlatti sonatas. The centre work is Mozart’s dark, tumultuous and unrelenting Sonata in A minor that precedes Chopin’s Sonata No 3, famed as a true masterpiece that represents the culmination of a lifetime of piano playing.
