  1. Passacaglia Op 1 - Anton von Webern
  2. Symphony No 5 in B flat D 485 - Franz Schubert
  3. Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No 5 in E flat, 'Emperor' Op 73 - Ludwig van Beethoven

Hugely talented young German conductor Ruth Reinhardt makes her UK debut with a trio of brilliant orchestral showpieces to open the new Kirklees Concert Season. The programme begins with Webern’s Passacaglia, his brief but thrilling first published work.

Influenced by Mozart, Schubert’s Symphony No 5 bursts with light-hearted, expressive melodies, and soloist Marc-André Hamelin joins the Orchestra to close the concert with Beethoven’s virtuoso Piano Concerto No 5, popularly known as the ‘Emperor’.
