Dartmouth Orchestra present its summer concert, raising funds for Dartmouth Caring, with a programme full of sunny, cheerful music - whatever the British weather offers us! Featuring soloists from the orchestra's ranks, we take the audience on a musical journey from Vivaldi and Telemann's delicate baroque string works through to familiar and toe-tapping classical tunes in Mozart's overture to The Magic Flute and Haydn's Allegro assai from Symphony No 26. The musical journey drops in on the twentieth century with Gordon Jacob's charming wind ensemble suite Old Wine in New Bottles, based on English folk tunes, "a work of beauty and wit" according to the 1959 festival programme where it was premiered.
