Meera Maharaj enjoys a diverse performing career throughout the UK and beyond. She has given performances at the Concertgebouw, Bridgewater Hall, Wigmore Hall, St James’ Piccadilly and Cadogan Hall. She recently completed her Masters with Michael Cox and Sam Coles at the Royal Academy of Music. She received scholarships supported by Sir Elton John, Countess of Munster Musical Trust and Help Musicians UK. In 2017, she graduated from RNCM with first class honours, having studied with Wissam Boustany and Laura Jellicoe. Previously, she studied at Junior RNCM.
Competition successes include winning the RAM Flute Competition and the Dutch International Flute Competition and 3rd prize in the BFS ‘Young Artist’ Competition. Meera is a keen chamber musician and a Tunnell Trust Young Artist alongside Dominic Degavino. Meraki Duo with guitarist, James Girling recently reached the final of the Royal Overseas League competition and they are Live Music Now artists.
Meera has enjoyed playing with the Pro Youth Philharmonia and with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. She enjoys improvisation and collaborating with other art forms. Jazz and music from across the world is of great interest to her.
Pianist Dominic Degavino has performed concerts in venues across the United Kingdom and beyond, including Wigmore Hall and Southbank Centre, London as a Park Lane Group artist, at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester and Lichfield and Edinburgh festivals, among others. Concerto appearances include performances with the Manchester Camerata and RNCM Symphony Orchestra.
Having received the majority of his musical education in Manchester, at Chetham’s School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music, under the tutelage of Helen Krizos, Dominic completed his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with tutors Charles Owen and Noriko Ogawa.
In recent years, Dominic has achieved considerable competition success, and is a Gold Medal winner at the Royal Northern College of Music. He has taken part in masterclasses with eminent pianists such as Lang Lang, Richard Goode, and Imogen Cooper. Alongside work as a soloist, he is a passionate chamber musician, accompanist, and jazz player. He is generously supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, Help Musicians UK and the South Square Trust.
