British baritone Peter Edge recently graduated as a Master of Music at the Royal College of Music, London, where he was tutored by Peter Savidge. Peter is extremely grateful for the support of the Walker Trust, Draper’s Company, Kathleen Trust, Clemence Charitable Trust and Millington’s Charity. Competition successes include the International Medal at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod, the Chris Treglown Memorial Award and RNCM Freckleton Prize. Peter also achieved Highly Commended in the Kathleen Ferrier Bursary Competition, Brooks-van Der Pump English Song Competition and the RCM Lieder Competition.
Opera roles include Alfio Cavalleria Rusticana (Blackburn Cathedral), Antonio Le nozze di Figaro (RCM, directed by Sir Thomas Allen), Don Alfonso Cosi Fan Tutte (Devon Opera and Opera at the Athenaeum, Pall Mall), Dulcamara L’elisir d’amore (New Sussex Opera), Guglielmo Cosi fan tutte (Felici Opera), Littore Lincoronazione di Poppea (Longborough Festival Opera), Masetto Don Giovanni (Opera Loki and Felici Opera), Papageno Die Zauberflote (City of Manchester Opera), Snug and Theseus A midsummer night’s dream (RNCM and RCM) and Zaretsky Eugene Onegin (RCM).
Peter has been a Young Artist of Longborough Festival Opera for the last two years and also joined LFO as a chorus member in their 2019 production of Anna Bolena. In May 2018, Peter performed principal roles in three contemporary operas in collaboration with Te^te a` Te^te Opera. As an oratorio soloist, Peter has recently performed the solos in Bach’s St John Passion and Handel’s Messiah (St Martin in the Fields), Haydn’s Creation (Chester Cathedral) and Verdi’s Requiem (Elgar Concert Hall, Birmingham).
Peter made his TV debut on S4C, at Llangollen, and also appeared in the BBC Film: Florence Foster Jenkins. Peter regularly sings on live BBC Radio 4, with the BBC Daily Service Singers, and has performed on BBC Radio 3, including performing live on BBC Radio 3’s live drive time show: In Tune, with presenter Sean Rafferty.
Following her performance as a Leeds Lieder Young Artist 2018, Rachel Fright was awarded the Hester Dickson Duo Prize with duo partner Ted Black (tenor) to study at Oxenfoord International Summer School with Malcolm Martineau. In the same year, Rachel was a finalist in the Patricia Routledge National English Song Competition and the British Art-Song competition as part of the London Song Festival. Rachel performs regularly across the UK and has been featured on BBC Radio 3. She is also a musician for Live Music Now, deputy tutor at Yorkshire Young Musicians and accompanist to Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus and King Edward Music Society, Macclesfield.
Rachel studied with scholarships to Pembroke College, Oxford and the Royal Northern College of Music, where she was taught by Stephen Savage, David Jones and Julius Drake, with whom she continues private study. During her studies, she was supported by the Helen Mackaness Award and won several prizes for accompaniment; the Stella Bradshaw Memorial Award, the Frost/Brownson Award for Accompaniment, the Clifton Helliwell Memorial Award, the Brodsky Prize, the Alexander Young Prize and the James Martin Oncken Song prize. In 2015, she attended the Oxford Lieder Festival Mastercourse, where she received tuition from Roger Vignoles and Imogen Cooper. She is currently a Junior Fellow in Accompaniment at the RNCM and is looking forward to accompanying educational outreach programmes with Clonter Opera Theatre and Oxford Lieder Festival this autumn.
