Wayne Hau is a London-based saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist. As a Trinity College London Scholar, he graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire achieving a Postgraduate Advance Diploma with Distinction in 2019, following a Masters in Music Performance (MMus) with Distinction in 2018. He currently studies Huw Wiggin, having previously studied with Melanie Henry and Gerard McChrystal at Trinity Laban. Prior to this, he studied Music at the University of Southampton under the tutelage of Dr. Angela Space. He has participated in masterclasses and workshops with Tim McAllister, Arno Bornkamp, Jerome Laran, Prof. Lynn Klock and Kyle Horch. Wayne has performed in many prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall, St John’s Smith Square, Royal Festival Hall, as well as various places around Europe. His most notable performances include the Royal Opening of the Francis Crick Institute, playing at LSO St Luke’s with Guy Barker, performing one of Mark Anthony Turnage’s works to him in the audience and a ‘Side by Side’ project playing with members from the BBC Concert Orchestra at the BBC Maida Vale Studios. Aside from classical saxophone, Wayne enjoys playing in pit orchestras and session bands. He has recently played at the New Wimbledon Theatre and Victorious Festival with Tom Grennan.
Wayne plays the soprano saxophone in the Momentum Saxophone Quartet which formed at the University of Southampton. All four members have now gone on to study at top Conservatoires around the UK. Recent events include playing at the World Saxophone Congress 2018 in Zagreb and a masterclass with Jonathan Hulting-Cohen.
Wayne was awarded the Wilfred Hambleton Chamber Music Prize, 2018 and highly commended in the Trinity Laban Soloist Competition 2019 and the Harold Clarke Competition 2018. He is grateful to have received awards and grants from Trinity College London and Greenwich Blue Coat Foundation.
Joe Howson is a pianist based in London, specializing in contemporary music and collaborative playing.
He has just finished his postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Music with Danny Driver, where he has been awarded prizes for Lieder and English Song accompaniment, contemporary music, and has performed concertos with the New Perspectives Ensemble and RCM Wind Orchestra. Prior to his time at RCM, he was an undergraduate at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, where he now works as a staff pianist for the vocal and wind departments.
He has also trained with the BBC Symphony Orchestra ‘Pathways’ Scheme, Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme, British Youth Opera, and London Sinfonietta Academy. He looks forwards to beginning a Piano Fellowship with the Philharmonia Orchestra and participating in the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group’s Next training programme. He is grateful for the support of the Craxton Memorial Trust and Philharmonia Mmsf in the 19-20 year, and for his previous support by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust and RCM Mike Rimmer Scholarship.
