This new festival brings a group of world-class musicians to live in a small town in South Devon for a week, performing formal concerts, open rehearsals, plus house parties where the audience chooses what is played, and the musicians perform the high-wire act of sight-reading it without rehearsal!

Nobody knows the programme in advance – not even the musicians! From a pile of music – including string quartets from the last 300 years – the audience will choose pieces, and the musicians will sight-read them, right there in front of everyone: no rehearsal!

This spectacular venue is a stunning Grade 2 listed C17th manor house and garden with gorgeous views across its own gardens and Devon’s beautiful landscape. The huge music room, and Italian gardens were designed by TH Lyon (of Ilsington), and the first director of Cambridge University's School of Architecture.
