  1. Romanza No 1 for solo violin - Graham Whettam

A new recording from the label EM Records of the complete solo-violin music of Graham Whettam will be launched on Saturday 14 September in an event hosted as part of the Gloucester Heritage Open Days. A person of great integrity, Whettam was a composer prolific in many genres; he was also the longest serving Chairman of the Composers’ Guild of Great Britain and in this role was responsible for fostering understanding, musical performance and the exchange of ideas between people from many different countries. He lived in Gloucestershire for several years, so it is especially fitting that the launch of this recording should take place in Gloucester in the Church of St Mary de Lode.

Christine Talbot-Cooper, who knew Whettam well and has been instrumental in securing performances of many of his works, will discuss with Rupert Marshall-Luck, the artist featured on the disc, the composer’s life and music. There will be a live performance by Rupert Marshall-Luck of Whettam's Romanza No 1 for solo violin, and excerpts from the disc will also be played.
