The first concert of our 59th season is Autumn Gloria, which features a wide range of choral music with brass and organ accompaniment including John Rutter's popular Gloria, described as 'exalted, devotional and jubilant by turns’. We will also be singing Hubert Parry's magnificent anthem I was glad and well-known anthems by Ralph Vaughan Williams and Charles Wood, along with two more pieces by Rutter. Some music for brass and favourite English a cappella pieces from the 16th and 17th centuries by Byrd, Tallis and Gibbons make up a varied and entertaining programme.
