'Music and Body' is an extraordinary evening of words and music that traces the migrant journey from Africa and the Middle East to Europe through improvisation, new compositions and readings by members of Freedom from Torture’s refugee writing group ‘Write to Life’. The readings will explore the body as both saviour and burden, while virtuoso musicians Sabina Rakcheyeva (violin), Attab Haddad (oud), Ant Romero (percussion), and Tunde Jegede (kora and cello) will perform a blend of folk, classical and contemporary music from Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Join us for a celebration of our multi-cultural society, exploring through art what brings people from different countries, cultures and traditions together as musicians, writers and as an audience.

This is the second in NW Live's 2019-20 series of three concerts, presented in association with The Free Space Project. NW Live receives funding from the Arts Council of Great Britain.
