  2. Concerto for clarinet and orchestra Op 9 - Ruth Gipps
  3. Symphony No 3 in C Op 52 - Jean Sibelius

This concert includes the Premiere of Ruth Gipps's Clarinet Concerto, written in 1940 as a present for her husband. To go with it we have the wonderful overture to the Magic Flure by Mozart and Sibelius's magestic second symphony.

Peter Clgleris, who is the soloist, made an edition of the work from material supplied by Ruth Gipps's family. This is its first performance.
