  1. Symphony No 36 in C, 'Linz' K425 - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
  2. Concierto de Aranjuez - Joaquin Rodrigo
  3. Symphony No 4 in A, 'Italian' Op 90 - Felix Mendelssohn

Arguably the most famous guitar concerto ever written, Rodrigo’s masterpiece, the Concierto de Aranjuez, comes alive in the hands of classical guitarist Craig Ogden, who will transport us to the sultry orange groves of the Spanish royal palace with this exquisite yet technically challenging work. The second movement, the Adagio, with its famous theme and beautiful cadenzas is particularly evocative, capturing the essence of Spain with its sensual flamenco rhythms and harmonies. London Mozart Players are delighted to be performing alongside Australian-born guitarist Craig Ogden – one of the most electrifying classical guitar players of his generation. His albums frequently top the UK classical chart and composers are lining up to write music especially for him.

The continental theme of the concert continues with Mozart’s inventive and exuberant ‘Linz’ Symphony (No 36), composed in just four days, and Mendelssohn’s delightful Italian Symphony (No 4), which the composer himself described as ‘the jolliest piece I have so far written…’.

‘One of the most winning performances I have encountered’ Classic CD on Craig Ogden’s recording of Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez
