Continuing to take chamber music out of the chamber and the formality of the concert hall, the London Novello Ensemble return to Bar Topolski for a relaxed afternoon of music banned under the Nazi regime as 'degenerate'. The Nazis claimed that music, like art, must promote racial purity and obedience, and outlawed anything that they considered Decadent, Jewish, Communist, or that featured the African-American influence of jazz...
What better way could there be to celebrate everything the Nazis hated than an afternoon at Bar Topolski with a drink (or three) and the London Novello Ensemble - London's most decadent professional chamber group, who are going from strength to strength in their pursuit of bringing live music of the highest standard into an informal and fun setting.
The ravishingly beautiful viola playing of Emma Sheppard will feature in Bruch's Romance, along with Mendelssohn's popular Quintet in B flat. Also on the programme is Pavel Haas 'A wild night' for strings and percussion, a Tango by Kurt Weill, and as always there are a couple of surprises...
Each piece will be introduced by leader Gavin Davies in his lighthearted and unique style.
The bar - which will be serving throughout - opens for drinks and snacks at 2pm - and the concert begins at 3pm. Please join the London Novello Ensemble after the concert for happy hour, at 5pm!
