Internationally acclaimed pianist Masayuki Tayama performs at Haddo House Hall in February 2020.

Bringing a spectacular new programme to audiences in 2020, he will be performing a selection of works by Ravel, Debussy and Rachmaninov, including the latter's fiery Second Piano Sonata (original version).

Tayama is renowned for his sensitive and deeply empathetic interpretations of Rachmaninov's piano works, described as 'reinventing the image of Rachmaninov' when he performed the Third Piano Concerto twice in the same day at the Osaka Symphony Hall. His varied career has taken him around the world as both a performer and pedagogue, and he is in the midst of a project to record all of Rachmaninov's solo works for piano, a feat undertaken by very few. His most CD recent release was named 'Specially Selected and Recommended' by Record Geijutsu, Japan's most authoritative classical music magazine.

In 2020, he will take on the role of Director of The Piano Teachers' Course UK, the country's leading professional development course for piano teachers, held at the Purcell School of Music near London.

‘This is Rachmaninov playing not only to be considered as a fresh departure from other fine pianists of the present day, but daring... somewhat akin to a kind of Horowitz approach, maybe, and also with a few touches of genius.' - Bill Newman, Musical Opinion

There will be an interval between the Debussy and Rachmaninov.

Refreshments will be available.
