  1. The Dream of Gerontius Op 38 - Sir Edward Elgar, arranged for soloists, chorus and organ by David Briggs

The Dream of Gerontius, Op 38, is a work for voices and orchestra in two parts composed by Edward Elgar in 1900, to text from the poem by John Henry Newman. It relates the journey of a pious man's soul from his deathbed to his judgment before God and settling into Purgatory. The piece is widely regarded as Elgar's finest choral work, and many consider it to be his masterpiece.

International concert organist David Briggs will be accompanying the Farrant Singers by playing a special organ transcription of the orchestral score. The well-known English tenor John Graham-Hall is taking the part of Gerontius and Susannah Spicer the angel. This is our most ambitious concert to date so please support it if you can.
