Conductor Antony Hermus is the Principal Guest Conductor of Opera North and the perfect tour guide for this musical flight through the Nordic countries! Joining him on stage is Rosanne, winner of the Dutch National Violin Competition (2009), and Freiburg International Violin Competition (2014). Her style is described by De Telegraaf as “energetic, sensitive and flawless”.

The show opens with Grieg’s Suite No 1 from Peer Gynt, packed full of lush melodies and teasing suspenseful themes that build up to the ever-popular In the Hall of the Mountain King.
Musical fireworks colour Bruch’s First Violin Concerto, which is a showpiece of remarkable lyricism and emotional.
The concert closes with Sibelius’s Symphony No 2, the iconic Nordic Symphony that includes an ominous passage of plucked basses and cellos at the start of the second movement and a theatrical final movement with traditional folksong elements woven in.
