  1. Academic Festival Overture Op 80 - Johannes Brahms
  2. Concerto for violin, cello and orchestra in A minor Op 102 - Johannes Brahms
  3. Symphony No 1 in B flat minor - Sir William Walton

Our Spring Concert is promising to be an evening full of stirring emotion as we present Brahms’s Double Concerto for violin and cello, and Walton’s epic Symphony No 1. We are delighted to welcome soloists Molly Cockburn (violin) and Michael Atkinson (cello), both members of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, for the concerto, and long-term supporters of the orchestra may remember Molly’s exquisite performance of the Dvorak Romance with us some 6 years ago. The programme opens with the sparkling Academic Festival Overture, full of fun and interwoven with student drinking songs, which Brahms composed for the University of Breslau.
