Redhill Sinfonia presents Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No 2 with Ivana Gavric

We are delighted to welcome pianist Ivana Gavric back to Redhill in her third appearance with the Redhill Sinfonia, to play Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto. Ever since it was featured in David Lean's 1945 romantic drama Brief Encounter, the concerto has been at the very top of the UK's classical music charts, and with good reason: its anguished, sweeping melodies cannot fail to pull us into its emotional maelstrom.

The concert also features Mahler's First Symphony, an epic journey that begins with a carefree hike through sparkling Bohemian forests but goes on to plumb the depths of despair before re-emerging into the blazing sunlight in its massive, triumphant finale.
