Aurora Orchestra performs Beethoven’s groundbreaking Eroica from memory, bringing its unique and critically-acclaimed memorised performance style to Beethoven’s masterpiece that launched the Romantic symphony. Principal Conductor Nicholas Collon, BBC Radio 3 presenter Tom Service and the orchestra give a vivid musical introduction with live excerpts, unpacking the work’s musical architecture. Opening the evening, Nicola Benedetti, one of the most sought after violinists of her generation, performs Mendelssohn’s soaring Violin Concerto, a work of heart-stirring melodies and incredible originality.
