  1. Keyboard Trio No 38 in G 'Gypsy Rondo' Hob X/24 - (Franz) Joseph Haydn
  2. Grand Octet in F minor, for winds, strings and piano Op 128 - Ferdinand Ries
  3. Nocturne and Tarentella Op 28 - Karol Szymanowski
  4. String Quartet No 4 in C minor Op 18 No 4 - Ludwig van Beethoven

Haydn’s best-known piano trio, the Gypsy Rondo, includes a finale that quotes numerous Hungarian folk tunes. The Hungarian influence is also apparent in Beethoven’s moody C minor quartet. Beethoven’s friend, Ries, was first and foremost celebrated as a virtuoso pianist, which is immediately apparent on hearing his florid Grand Octet, a chamber-scale piano concerto in all but name.
