Michel and Katy met and formed a duo at the Royal Academy of music in 2019.
Katy made her debut performing Lalo's Symphony Espagnole in Birmingham's Adrian Boult Hall aged ten. She has since appeared as soloist with numerous orchestras including the European Union Chamber Orchestra and New English Concert Orchestra under Douglas Coombes MBE at the Battle Proms series to audiences of up to 10,000. She has won several competitions and appeared on national television as strings finalist of BBC Young Musician of the Year.
Katy started studying with Berent Korfker at the Yehudi Menuhin School, then Royal College of Music. In 2019 she started an Advanced Diploma in Performance at the Royal Academy of Music, studying with György Pauk.
Dutch pianist Michel Xie graduated from the Conservatory of Amsterdam with a Bachelor and Master degree in Solo Performance studying with Frank van de Laar and Frank Peters, and is currently pursuing another Master degree in collaborative piano at the Royal Academy of Music with Michael Dussek.
Michel has won prizes at several competitions including Prinses Christina Concours, SJMN, and Vrienden Cultuurprijs 2017. He has performed with orchestras such as Het Gelders Orkest and Orkest van het Oosten and has appeared on chambermusic festivals a.o. IKFU (Janine Jansen), Grachtenfestival Amsterdam and Schiermonnikoog.
