  1. Cantus Arcticus, 'Concerto for birds and orchestra' - Einojuhani Rautavaara
  2. Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No 5 in E flat, 'Emperor' Op 73 - Ludwig van Beethoven
  3. Symphony No 7 in C Op 105 - Jean Sibelius

Rautavaara's work for taped birdsong and orchetsra is imaginative and captivating for both audience and performer alike. A very accessible masterpiece of 20th century composition.

Beethoven's 'Emperor' piano concerto ranks amongst the finest of that genre ever written: a finely wrought converstaion between soloist and orchestra - exploring every colour of emotion.

Sibelius is generally regarded as one of the 20th century's greatest symphonist. His 7th symphony was his last - a shortish work in a one movement structure. The culmination of his tendency to compress, condense, and refine his musical thought, the 7th symphony is Sibelius is at his most inscrutable.
