  1. Quintet for piano and strings in G minor Op 57 - Dmitry Shostakovich

Our BBC New Generation Artist recitals showcase some of tomorrow’s most celebrated and revered classical artists before they become household names. Lyric tenor Alessandro Fisher performs the first half of the programme, accompanied by pianist Elisabeth Brauss, details to be added later. Since winning the Kathleen Ferrier Prize in 2016, reviewers have praised his beautifully-toned singing.
For the second part, Elisabeth joins the Aris Quartet for Shostakovich’s Piano Quintet. An intense structure in five movements, the Quintet has become a chamber-music classic of the 20th century. This is the younger Shostakovich at his most serious and purely musical; the song before the storm.
