Canaletto and Vivaldi

Discover the connections between art and music in a major new partnership between Orpheus Sinfonia and the Wallace Collection.

In this concert, examine the synergy between Vivaldi and his 18th century Venetian contemporary, Canaletto. Tonight’s performance showcases how both composer and artist captured Venetian life so brilliantly, framing Vivaldi’s sparkling vivacity of composition against the carefully-constructed city views of Canaletto.

With an introduction from Wallace Collection Director, Dr Xavier Bray, alongside Orpheus Sinfonia’s Artistic team, Thomas Carroll and Rosemary Taylor, this premier broadcast features Orpheus Sinfonia musicians performing specially-selected repertoire that brings the synergy of art and music into focus.

Ticket holders will be emailed the broadcast link 48 hours in advance. Following its premiere, each performance is available to re-visit at any time using the same viewing link.
