The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is joined by Hilary Davan Wetton and the City of London Choir for a selection of life-affirming choral and orchestral music.

Ravel’s Pavane pour une infante défunte is mirrored by Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine in its profound and commemorative nature and Vaughan Williams’s timeless Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus leads into Toward the Unknown Region, a setting of Walt Whitman poetry that takes the text’s visionary imagination and soars with a sense of liberating wonder.

As one of the most significant works in the choral repertoire, Fauré’s Requiem embraces rich emotions without falling into despair, delivering moments of affecting sensitivity and depth of expression.

This concert is promoted in association with the City of London Choir.

We pleased to announce that baritone James Cleverton will join us for this concert as, due to scheduling difficulties, Edward Grint is no longer able to perform.
