  1. Prelude, from Parsifal - Richard Wagner
  2. The Dream of Gerontius Op 38 - Sir Edward Elgar

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is thrilled to welcome its new Music Director, Vasily Petrenko, back to the Royal Albert Hall. He will conduct a great British choral masterwork in a concert featuring a sensational line-up of soloists and the Philharmonia Chorus.

Let the energy of live orchestral music captivate you in what promises to be an awe-inspiring choral concert, which opens with Wagner’s Prelude to his opera Parsifal – a three-act work, loosely based upon the quest for the Holy Grail.

As the sonorous warmth of orchestral sound fills the Hall, sit back and enjoy one of the most celebrated choral works of the twentieth century: Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius. With impassioned solos and a rich symphonic tapestry, this mighty choral work will exhilarate and invigorate in equal measure.

Please note that there will be an interval between Parts I and II of Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius.
