Louise Alder and Joseph Middleton celebrate female voices with songs that speak of storms, summer nights and ill-fated romance.

'Alder is in glorious voice,' writes Erica Jeal of The Guardian, 'her soprano fresh and untethered; her high notes gleam, and her words are direct and communicative. Middleton’s playing fills in everything those words can’t say, perfectly calibrated to support Alder but huge in its expressive scope.'

With a programme that unearths chamber masterpieces from Amy Beach, Clara Schumann, Lili Boulanger and Alma Mahler, expect inspired, passionate music-making from two of classical song's brightest stars. And a treat in Libby Larsen's Try me, good King, a group of five songs drawn from the final letters and gallows speeches of Katherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, and Katherine Howard.
