  3. I stand at the door - Liz Dilnot Johnson

Wachet auf - Sleepers Awake - is one of Bach’s greatest cantatas and most memorable tunes. It calls us to rise and prepare, one of two Bach cantatas that explore Advent themes.

‘Once we start to act, hope is everywhere.’ Words by Greta Thunberg, Kurt Masur and David Hart inspire Liz Dilnot Johnson’s love song to the planet. It opens with the words ‘Gentle flame, guide our way’ set to music that will be familiar to our Christmas audiences.

This concert will end at approximately 6pm.

Pre-concert talk 2.45pm: Liz Dilnot Johnson introduces I stand at the door and the texts that inspired the work.
