Simon Thacker’s Ritmata is the musical laboratory of Scotland’s “musical alchemist” (World Music Report). The Edinburgh-born classical guitarist and composer creates primal and multi-layered sound worlds taking inspiration from Native America, medieval alchemy, Indian music and philosophy, Sephardic music, flamenco, Moroccan traditions and Ancient Roman mythology. This programme features four of Simon’ original compositions, including the centrepiece from Ritmata’s extraordinary debut album Tàradh. Quadriga in 5 was nominated for The Ivors Composer Awards, the most prestigious in the UK, in the category of 'Best Jazz Composition for Small Ensemble' in 2019.

This event follows an orchestral concert by the CBSO the same evening. Ticket holders for the earlier event get in for free.
