Immerse yourself in Bach’s music drama…

If you’re a Passion regular, bring your score and sing your heart out. But you don’t have to have sung this piece before to take part! Chorales are just Lutheran hymns which Bach included in lots of his music, and which his audiences would have known and probably joined in with. They’re not difficult to get the hang of, especially if you’ve sung in choirs before. In our Come & Sing rehearsal before each concert we will focus on three of the hymns, and to keep it simple, we’ll do those three in English. We will send out a PDF of the sheet music by email to all ticketholders in advance and provide some paper-copies on the day.

We want to encourage people to get back to singing in public again. Could this be the opportunity you or your group have been looking for?

We are offering a 20% discount rate to choirs or choral societies for group bookings of over six people.

Mozaïque

The young international ensemble Mozaïque has its roots at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. Its members studied at leading institutes for early music, such as Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, Mozarteum University Salzburg, CRR de Paris and Musikhochschule Trossingen. They frequently perform at renowned venues and festivals such as Oude Muziek Festival Utrecht, MAfestival Bruges, Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik, and Musikfestspiele Potsdam Sanssouci. In January 2020 the ensemble won the first prize and the audience prize at the competition for the Rheinsberger Hofkapelle. In 2021 the ensemble was awarded the Fiori Musicali Prize and the Note 1 Music Gmbh Prize at the international H.I.F. Biber Competition St. Florian, and so will release its debut CD with the label Pan Classics next year. Mozaïque is also first prize and audience prize winner at the Göttingen Händel Competition 2021.

Scherzo Ensemble

Scherzo Ensemble is a professional development platform for young singers which aims to cultivate a broader spectrum of career paths and employment possibilities in music and the arts. There is often a substantial gap between graduating from conservatoire and building a musical career. Scherzo offers a year-long programme of performance and training projects as well as classes in business to a cohort of singers selected annually at audition. The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the landscape for live music, especially singing. Practitioners have had to find new ways of delivering performance and teaching. The classical music industry has shrunk considerably, with fewer institutions and organisations providing artistic work, especially for young performers. Our programme helps emerging artists develop a diverse range of professional skills and seeks to instil artistic and managerial confidence when setting out to realise a project independently for the first time. We believe this focus is necessary to rebuild a vibrant cultural sector.
