  1. Die ägyptische Helena Op 75 - Richard Strauss

Fulham Opera present this unusual work by Richard Strauss with a libretto by his longtime collaborator Hugo von Hofmannsthal, combining Greek myth, elves, the face that launched those thousand ships, impostors, sorcery, and a psychic shellfish. Obviously.

Guido Martin Brandis directs what we believe is the first UK performance of the (later) Vienna version of this work. Ben Woodward conducts Paul Plummer's arrangement for piano, violin, clarinet, horn, cello, organ and percussion.

Justine Viani, Brian Smith Walters and Luci Briginshaw lead the cast.

Performances on 19th, 22nd, 24th, 26th, 28th and 30th October start at 7.30pm (6pm on Sunday 24th October).

Running time approximately 2h30m including interval.

An operatic oddity not to be missed.
