  1. Symphony No 1 in C major Op 21 - Ludwig van Beethoven, transcribed for piano 4 hands by Franz Xaver Scharwenka
  2. Symphony No 5 in C minor Op 67 - Ludwig van Beethoven, transcribed for piano 4 hands by Franz Xaver Scharwenka

To mark the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth (reinstating a fixture originally planned for last December) and as we begin to leave the pandemic behind us, we welcome two brilliant South African-born musicians to fill us with hope and joy, performing three of Beethoven’s symphonic masterpieces in the historic transcriptions for piano four hands by Franz Scharwenka. They will perform Symphonies 1 and 5 in a mid-afternoon concert at 3 pm and will tackle Beethoven's great Ninth Symphony (including the Ode to Joy) in an evening performance at 7 pm.

Both concerts will be live-streamed, and live-stream passes are available from the online booking page, by clicking on the right poster. We look forward to welcoming audiences as well, and tickets can be purchased from the online bookng page, by clicking on the left poster, though tickets may also be purchased on the door.

Each concert will run straight through without a break (afternoon concert duration approx 60 mins, evening concert duration approx 70 mins) and light refreshments will be served following each performance.
